jonnyD Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 im using diskem1x.cmd as a menu for booting . it seems basic to use and thats what i want since im newer to this. Ive already made a few succcesful multi boot cds. None of my cds have been sophisticated by any means. But This time i wanted to run some dos utilities and .IMA images.Im using Gosh's reducing source method, but it didnt exactly specify where or how to load *.ima, image files. Everything else has gone smooth ...Though i did find a forum post that mentioned using image files. But it didnt say too much elseMY question isDo the image files need to be in one central location? Can i use a individual bootsect file's to point to the folder' where the image's are?(im assuming no since i tried this) Or can i assume that since all my attempts have failed that the image file needs to be at the root of the cd?ive been looking around and cant figure this one out. Hopefully someone with some expierience can help.Anyone got any ideas
Incroyable HULK Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 Regardless of the method you are using, the concept is always the same and you should find what you are looking for in the "official" guide here: http://flyakite.msfnhosting.com/This guide is written with CDSHELL in mind for the Boot Menu but I used the same concept for EasyBoot...Most of my DOS utilities are Images files (floppy images) and I added them where I wanted on my CD (with EasyBoot).
jonnyD Posted January 16, 2005 Author Posted January 16, 2005 silly meive been running around in circle's looking info that i had forgotten about flyakites guide. This is an excellent guide by the way This is one of the places i started when i first got into multi boot cd'sBut of course i forgotten what ive already readThanks im gonna check that out
jonnyD Posted January 16, 2005 Author Posted January 16, 2005 I just got back from flyakites site. I went to DVD LAYOUT page and it looks like any images that are used need to be at the root of the cd. Unless thats just where he wanted to put his images (personal preference). But i couldnt find much elseAnother thing ,....... memdisk was metioned being used for Win98.ima file but i disregarded that since im using Disem1x and not cdshell.ini.My conclusion is::Im going to put my *.ima files at the root ,make an iso and run it through virtual pc and see if i have any luck loading these images.JonnyD
