Deleting XP Pro Setup files ?

HI all ... My problem, simply put is this ...

I recently wanted to reformat my computer, therefore I decided to reinstall windows and perform the operation that way. The WinXP Pro setup was sucessful until a point, where the 'blue screen of death' appeared and the computer rebooted, trying to repeat the setup process but with the same result. (The problem incidentaly i think is to do with the hard drive or something but thats another issue!). I managed to get the computer to boot windows normally and changed the OS the system tried to boot to the existing XP version on the computer. I have decided to stick with the current version of windows as i don't have time to change it at the moment....

I was wondering weither there was any way to remove the Setup files from the computer as they take up valuable space. For the life of me i cannot find them (could also be because i don't know all that much about the inner workings of XP Pro!).

Anyways, was hoping someone out there might be able to help

simple,boot from the windows xp cd and format the partition

From folder options, enable viewing hidden/system files.

Then, in your C:\ drive you will find 2 hidden folders - delete those.

Also, to remove the option (during boot-up) to start XP setup, you need to remove the relevant line in boot.ini

Would the 2 hiddens folders be

inf and msdownld.tmp?

The only hidden folder that i don't know what's in it is th 'inf' folder in the windows directory.... is this the one you mean ?!?

No...

In your C:\ drive you will see folders with names starting from weird characters like $ (dollar) and ~ (tilde). That's what you need to delete.
