I am running windows ME, I want to upgrade to XP but I am having trouble loading the XP. says the pci communication device is the problem. Any one with an idea please reply. jbm Posted January 10, 2005 Share Posted January 10, 2005 First make sure there is a XP driver for it. Uninstall the ME driverand disable or remove the device. Run XP upgrade and reinstall or enableand let XP find it and install the driver.Or for less problems later on format and do a clean install. If youhave the upgrade version of XP make sure you have a qualifying CDlike an ME install CD. I don't think a restore disk will work, if that'swhat HP gave you. Corvettaholic Posted January 19, 2005 Share Posted January 19, 2005 I used to work for HP, and its 90% likely a Conexant winmodem. Real piece of junk, I had so many tech support issues with it... but if it works for you great! A buddy of mine had an HP I upgraded to XP, and it took forever to find the driver.
