Creating a bootable CD with CDRWIN

NOTE! You may also use EASY CD CREATOR 5 PLATINUM along with the boot.bin.

For instructions visit http://www.xs4all.nl/~binkbv/windowsxp/bootcd/

Files needed:

Boot.bin - The file needed to make your CD bootable

Download Boot.bin from http://www.xs4all.nl/~binkbv/windowsxp/bootcd/

CDRWIN ftp://ftp.cdarchive.com/pub/goldenhawk/download/cdr40a-.exe

- Used for burning the CD

1)Open CDRWIN and Choose the option: File Backup and Tools.

2)Click "Directory..." and select the folder that you extracted the ISO to, and click ADD. Ans Set the following settings:

*"Preserve Full Pathnames" needs to be unchecked.

*"Long Filenames (Joliet)" needs to be checked.

*"Rescurse Subdirectories" needs to be checked.

*"Include Hidden Files" needs to be checked.

*"Include System Files" needs to be checked.

*"Include Archive Files Only" needs to be unchecked.

*"Check Directory Depth" needs to be unchecked.

*"Generate Raw Sectors" needs to be unchecked.

*"Disable Version Numbers" needs to be checked.

*"Disable DOS Compatibility" needs to be unchecked.

*"Finalize/Close Session" needs to be checked.

*"Open New Session" needs to be unchecked.

*"Test Mode" needs to be unchecked.

*"Write Postgap" needs to be checked.

*"Verify Recoreded Image" needs to be unchecked.

*"Enable BURN-Proof" needs to be unchecked.

3)Select : Build and record an ISO9660 Image file option.

4)Select a place to store the new ISO (click "..." next to "Image Filename")

5)Now Click on the "Advanced Options..." button and do as follows:

*In Volume Label put XR2PFRE_EN (make sure its the same as the name of the folder you extracted from the ISO).

*Make sure "Use ISO9660 test for JOLIET volume descriptor" is checked.

6)Now click on the "Bootable Disc" tab and do as follows:

*"Make Bootable Disc" needs to be checked.

*"Media Emulation Type" needs to be "Custom"

*On "Image File Name" you need to load the boot.bin file.

*"Developer Name" has to be "Microsoft Corporation". (So make sure you spell it right!!!)

*"Load Segment" needs to say "07C0"

*"Load Sector Count" needs to be "4"

7)Now all you have to do is press ok on the "ISO9660 - Advanced Options" window and click START to make your bootable Windows XP CD.
