blackknights Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 Greetings all yes another newbie here at MSFN although must say a very informative site.My question is this is there a product or way to lock certian files that I am the only one able to view them. I understand that by using Winzip or Winrar I can compress the file of choice and password protect it but what I'm looking for an app that will allow me to enter a key to view the original file. Martin Zugec Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 ...or use EFS (Encrypted File System), in that case just dont forget to export recovery certificate!
Ge0ph Posted January 3, 2005 Posted January 3, 2005 ...or use EFS (Encrypted File System), in that case just dont forget to export recovery certificate! In my opinion using EFS works very well but is a bad idea if you don’t fully understand the importance of the recovery certificate. Without the certificate you will not be able to access you files if you re-install from a crash or put that drive in another computer to get the files. If you go this route, be **** sure you export the recovery certificate and keep it in a safe place!
