rupert86 Posted January 1, 2005 Posted January 1, 2005 I've just got an inno3D GF FX 5200. Using in WinXP w/ ForceWare 66.93 on a Philips 105S.Problem is: Whenever I start some program (I've yet tried 4x4 Evo and a small demo-like named fr08v101.eXe, if you remember it was posted on the same forums), the monitor goes blank and its software displays a message like:"Attention93K / 74HzFrequency is out of range"I've been using this very monitor with various adapters of 2MB, 4MB, 8MB, 16MB & 32MB range and never experienced problem of this type. Also used some integrated VGA controllers. The desktop performance is very good at 1024x768, 32bpp, 75Hz. Its only the games that are hurting, and they shouldn't do so, the monitor is capable of this frequency @ this resolution. Maybe its the driver that's hurting??BTW the NV34 chip is an A2 stepping. The VGA BIOS is 4.34.20.27.06C. Can you suggest what's causing these problems?P.S: By enabling coolbits, I've noted the chip/mem clock speed is 250/332 (a.k.a 333) both in 2D & 3D mode. The site mentions memory speed should be 400MHz. I'm new with nVidia. Should I return the card.Edit: I also tried pushing the frequency back to 60Hz. It stings my eyes, notable flickering, and similar message:"Attention75K / 60HzFrequency is out of range"Pushing resolution back to 800x600 caused a similar message instantly (I didn't need to run a program for it, just in windows, causing me to reboot in "Enable VGA mode. It then asked me to set the resolution automatically, hitting OK saw the same disaster and another reset.) but w/ different K & Hz values this time. Pushing back to 16bpp is causing the same phenomena on desktop. So for now, when at default setting: 1024x768, 32bpp, 75Hz the problem is only in programs and at any other setting it goes awry on the desktop. Plz. note that the system does not crash. Only monitor is the pain.I'm posting my system config, although I've not updated it after buying this new card:___________________________;config.tXt;16.11.2004;07:54 PSTGraphic Card: Integrated Intel 82815 graphics controllerDriver version:Hardware rev.:CPU: Intel CuMine 866MHz @866MHz (FSB 133)Chipset: Solano (Intel 815GMCH + ICH)Motherboard: ASUS CUSL-L rev. 1.04 (from HP Pavilion XT860 machine)Motherboard Bios: 2.02 (29th Dec 2000)PCB ver:Motherboard chipset patches:RAM: 1x Kingston 256MB KVR133X64C3/256 (@133MHz)OS: Windows 4.10.2222A & Windows XP 5.1.2600.2180 SP2Desktop resolution and color depth: 1024x768, 32bppDirectX version: DX9.0c, 4.09.0000.0904 in Win98, WinXPHard Drive: Seagate Baraccuda 7200.7, ST380011A; firmware v3.06SCSI card type: NILSound card and driver version: Integrated Crystal AC'97Hardware rev.:Monitor brand: Philips 105S2CD-ROM Drive (make/model): Asus S520/A, firmware rev. 2.0LNetwork card: NILFax MODEM: CM-5611Driver Version:Hardware revision:IRQ settings and other devices:------------------------
