KNARZ Posted December 29, 2004 Author Posted December 29, 2004 i know that this method works... i did it once before..
MCT Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 your problem is easy 2 fix instead of having $docs, just make an SFX of all the files in your $docs folder & extract them @ T-12 or something, cuz the problem is that account is created & since windows doesnt wanna overwrite settings from the old account with a new 1, it creates a new account username.computername
KNARZ Posted December 29, 2004 Author Posted December 29, 2004 i know what you mean and how do you mean it but... thats no real solution for me...run something her... maybe somehting there..i know that this workes... and that your method would be the easiest... but i want to use the normal method..
un4given1 Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 A user account is attached to a SID. If the SID of that user account does not match it will create a new directory. MCTs method should work for you...
MCT Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 thats the easiest way & it makes size smaller on your cd win win situation, faster time in txtsetup cuz u dont have 2 copy the files , i shaved like 5 mins off my setup time by running everything from cd
KNARZ Posted December 29, 2004 Author Posted December 29, 2004 in short:you have no solution to do it in that way that i wanna do... any hacked file... edit in hive or somethingyour suggestions are all right and good - but want it to create a cd easy a possible that everyone can understand whats happen...and its easier for someone to see files on cd which are later the same on hdd instead of... here theres a big exe...later we have all documents... - it's a bit of projekt for my school (exam).when does $Docs run?
un4given1 Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Let me break it down a little more for you. The only way you would be able to make it work the way you want it to is if you hacked the USERS hive of the registry to point the user you created to the profile you copied. I can recommend a great book to you... Windows XP Registry Guide by Jerry Honeycutt (http://www.honeycutt.com/)
MHz Posted December 29, 2004 Posted December 29, 2004 Only 2 folders in $Docs. All Users and Default User. Nothing else, cause no other accounts exist during textmode. Windows will not overwrite profile folders for safety reasons. These 2 folders should suit your needs.
