chankya Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 Dear allHow can install multiple peripheral dirvers so that whenever we make a system we should not install drivers in windows98se like when we install win98se in via board we have to install via drivers like same for intel chipset boardhow can we make a cd of win98se for multiple drivers of motherboard and peripheralscan anyboady suggest any link/site/software
cybpsych Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 win98se doesn't support unattended setup ...best bet is to store all the relevant drivers into the CD itself but, this mean that the CD will always get obsolete with new drivers are out ...
Alanoll Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 there is a program on th Win98 CD called INFINST.EXE i believe. Run that program and search the Microsoft TechNet site for instructions. I memory servers, you should just have to select the INF files for the drivers, and your Win98 folder (copy it off CD first) and it should be all you need.

It just uses a different method. To create an unattended install in Windows 98, it uses MSBATCH.INF and INFINST.EXE to add drivers. Using both, you can do almost exectly the same with Win98 as with WinXP.Also, to topic starter, don't double post
chankya Posted December 24, 2004 Author Posted December 24, 2004 Dear AlanollThanks for the quick response it's amazing to have a member of MSFN it's realy helpful for newbies like me.sorry for adding double but i think i have to mention it in device drivers section so i did sorry again alanolli am a hardware techn. so i have to install daily new system so how can i make a cd of win98se in which i have all drivers of motherboard, modem, some other software like msoffice etc.please help me alanoll i am realy realy thankfull to u i have tried with ghost image but some times it make sound driver or keyboard drivers unable to work and hang the systemi do it in daily routine so it will save lot of time and effort for me.thanks
chankya Posted December 24, 2004 Author Posted December 24, 2004 Dear Alanoll but there is limitations as per microsoftDesign Limitations:1. Adding an inf with the same name as one included with Windows 98 or one previously added will eliminate all functionality of the previous inf, regardless of PnP IDs.2. You must have write permission to the location of the Windows 98 setup files for Infinst.Exe to work. (I.E. it will not work on a CD-ROM).3. Adding an inf containing the same PnP IDs as an inf already included in the setup share will result in eliminating those PnP IDs from the already included inf.so what to do with that
Alanoll Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 1. will rarely happen, especially with newer hardware.2. That's why i said to copy it to harddrive3. If one INF contains the same PnP IDs, then it's the same hardware, just use the latest version.
chankya Posted December 24, 2004 Author Posted December 24, 2004 Dear AlanollCan u please please......... tell me how to add another software installation added like the hardware so it will install unattended like msoffice, winzip. realone, antivirus etc.i am realy thankful to u i u do it for meplease.
Alanoll Posted December 24, 2004 Posted December 24, 2004 ooooh man....now you're getting complicated to be quite honest, I have almost completely forgot http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen...t7/wrkappd.mspxhttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/w...oy/batch98.mspxSearch the Microsoft site. From what I remember, you have to tell it to copy over a file then run it via RunOnceEX (it's the say keys as in XP) but must be formated in INF syntax. The simple thing would be to have a batch file that is copied over, then when executed finds the Cd (using the FOR or IF EXIST lines from all over this site) then calls the applications just like you would if you were doing an XP install.
chankya Posted December 25, 2004 Author Posted December 25, 2004 THANKS I AM SEARCHING FOR THAT PL'S DON'T SAY THAT I FORGOT
