ok updated my win98 (now se)a few days ago and now when you shut it down, it just stops in the (Windows is now shuting down) screen and locks up. i have to just turn it off

by disconecting the surge protecter. i have run all the trojan removers, spyware, bots, viruses etc, but no help. any ideas????????//

There is a known bug in WIN 98 for this problem. See MS Support site for the KB article on what to do.

the unnoficial windows 98 se sp 1.6.2 includes this along with other features and enhancements

I have a clean Win 98 SE install with SP 2.0b2 and it still only shuts down properly half the time.

I'm going to start flipping a coin to see if there is any correlation.
