talkback Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Can anyone help me get rid of WindowsAd? Spybot says it's destroyed it but it's still there. Ad-aware freezes when I try to use that. Using Add/Remove Programs function also freezes computer.
oftentired Posted December 16, 2004 Posted December 16, 2004 Before you try to nail it stop the Process called WinAdCtl.exeYou could manually search the drive for that file and delete it after stopping the process. But I would still run AdAware or SpyBot to clean up anything else.

(Just make sure you update the definitions before restarting)How to get to safe mode (if you don't know)1) Turn on, Restart , whatever.... computer2) just before the windows 98 logo appears, hit F83) if you see a menu, select "Safe Mode"4) run the spyware remover programs
