NVIDIA DRIVER 66.93 HANGING ON SETUP

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

 I tried the "Unattended Setup Guide" method to add nvidia drivers 66.93_win2kxp for windows 2000, and it halts my unattended setup. Setup just hangs. Attached is a copy of my winnt.sif file. Can anyone tell me why it's hanging?

Did that and it hangs at the point where windows starts installing the device drivers for the operating system. The progress bar will complete but thats it. The screen freezes at that point and nothing happens. :(

I'm having the same problem. The progres bar reaches 100% during the driver install protion of setup, then nuthin.' It just hangs there. I've tried different versions of the NVIDIA driver, including the one recommended by prathapml, but no luck.

Anybody ever encounter (and resolve) this issue? Thanks in advance.

including the one recommended by .....

Dunno why that hang occurs for you. Maybe some files are corrupted, or you have other drivers that are not playing well with this one. Just to be sure, see that you aren't turning off driver-signing (because first we shall just work with proper signed drivers, and then move on to unsigned ones).

Then, get the latest WHQL'ed drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_71.84.html

Maybe your hardware has an issue that got fixed with this version.

Spoke to soon. :blushing: As I type, I'm looking at a properly installed NVIDIA card (on my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 test bed machine) that went off without a hitch per your directions detailed on page 4 of THIS THREAD, prathapml. The driver hang issue is also discussed in THIS THREAD, where Aaron claims the quotes are critical (I had omitted them).

I had copied the files earlier from my WinXP install setup. I "thought" I had the driver you had recommended, but in retrospect it was probably NOT the correct, certified driver! Downloading a fresh set of files from HERE and following your instructions properly did the trick.

Thank you. :thumbup
