Allysandra
Hi...I hope someone out there can help me....? I have a Sony Vaio with XP program...and a few days ago I spilled some coffee on the keyboard. It was just a bit, but enough to make the machine go haywire. I dried it out, and left it alone for about four days...I plugged it in tonight...and it works...well, almost. I could log into the main account with my password BUT not into the account that holds all my art and business stuff...why? Because the password has the letter "G" in it and apparently that letter is refusing to register. You press on it, but nothing comes up on the screen. The other password does not have a "G" and I was able to log in just fine. It looks like all the keys are in working order as is the computer.I need to get into my other account! It has all my business stuff in it...all I have to do is change the password to something that does not have a "G" in it...and then never type anything with a "G" again...just kidding...Any way to get in through my main account to change the password? Or should I just let it go and fix the hardware (which I will have to anyway) I just needed to get some files first before I send it off....unless...and/or does anyone have a clue as to how to fix this key? A "hardware" forum, maybe? Can you direct me there?Sorry if this sounds like I'm clueless....I am.... Any information would be really appreciated as I am stranded in the middle of nowhere England and it is the middle of the night...and I need my computer...! Thanks, Ally

Flashcore
At the login screen hit the Windows Key on the keyboard and then U together and you will get the option to start the onscreen keyboard then press your G from there.
c4rb0nface
Hey Allysandra Did you type your post at work or elsewhere? You seemed to have no problem with 'g's in it.Am I the only one who wondered about this?If you have a computer savvy friend who builds PCs who you know is careful you could ask him to take a look at the keyboard. You can repair connections on keyboards with conductive paint. I suspect it is not electronic & only a temporary mechanical fault.Though I would concurr with the suggestion that you should buy a small ps2 or USB keyboard if your laptop does not have the 'legacy' or std. ps2 connectors (the small 5 pin circular connectors used to connect most mice & keyboards to desktop - any non laptop - PCs. The key arrangements on a full size keyboard tend to be easier to type with than those on laptops.I have yet to see a laptop keyboard that is not bettered by a good keyboard unit.Do you type alot? Do you use the laptop 'on the road' alot in places where it would make it difficult to plug in & set up the keyboard infront of the laptop? At the login screen hit the Windows Key on the keyboard and then U together and you will get the option to start the onscreen keyboard then press your G from there. Great little tip there Flashcore!
prathapml
If you need to change your password for your business account, you can do this:1. Login to your main account.2. From "Start", go to "Accessories" menu and start the "Command Prompt".3. Now at the command prompt, type the following command:net user USERNAME passwordUse your actual username and password that you wish to set.
