Megglers Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Hello.I am a neewb at this stuff. I created an unat. cd with sp2 slipstreamed and now when i load i get an option to load winxp pro(what i want) or window whistler. If I choose the whistler option tells me there is a problem imediately and needs to be restarted. If I choose the other everything works great. Is there any settings that I'm missing. If somebody could help would be apprieciated. ;SetupMgrTag[Data] AutoPartition=0 MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes"[unattended] UnattendMode=FullUnattended OemSkipEula=Yes OemPreinstall=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS FileSystem=*[GuiUnattended] AdminPassword=* EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 TimeZone=4 OemSkipWelcome=1[userData] ProductKey= OrgName="" ComputerName=[Display] BitsPerPel=32 Xresolution=1280 YResolution=1024 Vrefresh=75[TapiLocation] CountryCode=1 Dialing=Tone AreaCode=503[RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 SystemLocale=0000080a UserLocale=0000080a InputLocale=080a:0000080a[identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP[Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=Yes
RyanVM Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 Sounds like you had some leftover stuff in boot.ini. On the root C: drive, you'll see a file called boot.ini. Right click it and choose properties. Make sure "Read Only" is unchecked then hit OK. Now you can open the file and remove the line pointing to Whister. Once that line is removed, save and close boot.ini. That should take care of it.
Yzöwl Posted December 5, 2004 Posted December 5, 2004 If you really do have two Operating systems, you can do the following:Try booting with your XP CD, then going into the Recovery Console, at the Dos command prompt type, bootcfg /list, this will show you the boot file, then type bootcfg /rebuild.You should receive a message similar toTotal Identified Windows installs: 2[1] C:\FirstOSAdd to installation list? (Yes/No/All)Type YA message comes up 'enter load indentifier'(this is the name of the operating system) so type FirstOS and press enterThen you're prompted for 'Enter OS Load Options'Type /fastdetect and press enterDo the same when prompted for the SecondOSType exit then press enter to leave the recovery console.Your computer should restart and then you should be prompted with'Please select the operating system to start message'Obviously adjust FirstOS and SecondOS to suit your actual ones.
