:unsure: When I do the above in order to ping my router or enter 'ipconfig' I get the response

ping/ipconfig etc "is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

Can anybody advise me please ?

When I encountered this problem I found an error in My Computer > Properties > Advanced > the option about Environment (The button is named something more but I'm not shure what that button is named in english.. :blushing: )

Here I checked Path in Systemvariables.. The path value was wrong.. Dunno if you have the same problem, though..

several ways but easiest i think :

go to system properties

click on advanced

then click on "environment variables"

there change those paths...

also type set in command prompt

here are somet things that might work for u:

windir=C:\windows

SystemDrive=C:

SystemRoot=C:\windows

ComSpec=C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe

PATHEXT=.COM;.EXE;.BAT;.CMD;.VBS;.VBE;.JS;.JSE;.WSF;.WSH

Path=C:\windows\system32;C:\windows

HOMEDRIVE=C:

thats the thing....I dont know what to put in replace of what is mentioned in 'environment variables', don't generally mess in this area.

@mickd that's why i've copied and pasted my own entries. just put them in there

or

go to command prompt at least cmd is working right?

when u get in command type (without quotes) "set >>c:\set.txt"

then go to c drive and open set.txt and copy paste those stuff over here so we can take a look...
