flossyboots Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 I am having problems shutting down my computer which runs in Windows ME 4.90.3000. Although I think all programmes are shut down, when I click 'Start', 'Shutdown' the screen either freezes or I have to 'end task' several times. I sometimes have to 'restart' three times before it will finally shutdown. Any suggestions?

That should help remove any potential malware in your PC.
prathapml Posted November 30, 2004 Posted November 30, 2004 And then ensure that you have the latest patches/updates installed, and new versions of IE6SP1, DirectX9c, etc.If nothing else, a clean re-install will get rid of junk that has built up over the months. Its times like these, where I recall this quote:The shutdown command is not so anymore.... its rather like a request - it might, it might not!
