BTC 4816IM CD/DVD Combo no longer reads DVDs..

I bought my BTC 4816IM combo drive about 2 years ago.. it worked fine until about 12 months ago (I was lazy never really looked into it) so I got bored today and decided hell its over the warranty, i tried re-flashing it with the latest firmware 12 months ago so i took it out of my computer and opened it. (I'm not an electronic newbie.. i know what i'm doing for the most part )

so anyone have any idea about why this may have happened, It reads CDs fine but just can't write CDs or Read DVDs. I just re-flashed it again today. and nothing changed. I heard that it may be out of focus.. but its 1 laser.. i don't see how it could be out of focus if it still reads CDs....
