regedit Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 I have a puter that has sreved me well for some time. My wife was deleting some old non microsoft programs but had some trouble. She went into the registry and then.....now i cannot download files, view streaming videos,or even do windows update. I've tried many things and I am ready to do a reinstall of xp. My question is simply this. Will reinstalling xp change or affect any files backed up on my second hard drive in the system?
hexa Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 No, if your system is on c: and the important documents etc. are on d: for example. Just be carefull when selecting the drive you install the OS on.
Astalavista Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 just to be extra extra safe. i suggest that u unplug the power to your second hard drive. just in case.sometimes choosing the wrong answer to an option can lead to deadly results.
Synapse Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 yea, just unplug the power to the second hard drive and do the reinstallation.
jpatto Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 Just to add this to everyones answers:If its important data - back it up no matter what size of your data maybe. That way if something does go wrong youll always have a back up
Davidxp2 Posted November 22, 2004 Posted November 22, 2004 How many times can I install Windows XP Home Edition before Microsoft start asking questions?
