I have a puter that has sreved me well for some time. My wife was deleting some old non microsoft programs but had some trouble. She went into the registry and then.....now i cannot download files, view streaming videos,or even do windows update. I've tried many things and I am ready to do a reinstall of xp. My question is simply this. Will reinstalling xp change or affect any files backed up on my second hard drive in the system?

No, if your system is on c: and the important documents etc. are on d: for example. Just be carefull when selecting the drive you install the OS on. :)

just to be extra extra safe. i suggest that u unplug the power to your second hard drive. just in case.

sometimes choosing the wrong answer to an option can lead to deadly results.

Just to add this to everyones answers:

If its important data - back it up no matter what size of your data maybe. That way if something does go wrong youll always have a back up
