Synapse Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 First off... are you talking about: you bought the computer and the restore CD came with the computer or was a partition on the hard drive..... if so this is no help to you...If it was a CD that you copied to your hard driveI believe if you open a command prompt and go to the I386 folder and run Winnt.exe it will install...as for the winnt.sif, that file is read after files are copied... what tells the computer to boot from the CD and run Winnt.exe is when you make the iso and you use that CDImage program available Here there is a xpboot.img file that gets copied or put as a seperate track on the CD so that the computer treats the CD as a boot floppy to run the winnt.exesomeone correct me if i'm wrong about this...
moro666 Posted November 22, 2004 Author Posted November 22, 2004 Thanks Bi0haZarD..Yesterday.. i managed to do some fix to make the setup never search the CD-rom for winnt.sifit's not a good way.. but it worked.. all i do a patch file with this command@echo offcd i386\start /i winnt32 /unattend1:unattend.txtexit------------where (unattend.txt) is the answer file , i put it inside (i386) folderi think (winnt.sif) for CD installation only.. !!! the setup gos fine.. it's all about (winnt32 /unattend1:unattend.txt ) command.. it tels the setup that it's an Unattended setup.. & the answert file is there..if there is mutch petter way for this.. please tell me..By the way.. this command for New istallation ONLY.. not for updating ..

moro666 Posted November 22, 2004 Author Posted November 22, 2004 BioHaZarD... You Say :((( there is a xpboot.img file that gets copied or put as a seperate track on the CD so that the computer treats the CD as a boot floppy to run the winnt.exe )))i have an image to do that.. not like normal windows XP poot CD. in normal case.. it tells u to press any key to boot from CD-rom .. & u should do that fast or PC'll poot from hard Drive.what i did.. is a normal (windows98 start-up disk) but editing it's Autoexe.batSo it boot directly wihtout asking u to press any keys, Auto loading (smartdrv.exe), & puts u at the first screen of windowsXP setup.i test it to make pootable XP-CD.. & it working fine,,
