koald58 Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 Don't know if this is the right place, but I've found a lot of answers here before and thank everyone for looking at my problem.I'm running Access 2002 runtime on several machines and after allowing SP2 to install via SUS I can no longer open any linked files through Access. Any new machines built with integrated SP2 work, as well as with full Access, but anyone who was upgraded to SP2 doesn't work. I did try uninstalling the runtime and re-installing it, but it didn't work. My only idea at this point is reghosting everything from an intergrated SP2 machine, but was really hoping there is some kind of patch or fix to apply to save me from a week of work. Thanks again.
MCT Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 sounds like all thats wrong is the file extension got messed up..goto control panel, folder options > file type, scroll down 2 the file type.. restore it & then choose that it opens with access
koald58 Posted November 19, 2004 Author Posted November 19, 2004 Opening the runtime works fine. It's files that are called in the database (pdf and xls files) which you would click on that don't open. It doesn't even try. Just says that it can't find the file. The files are clearly there as the query found them, but through access, they won't link.I'm going to try the Office Update site to see if that has anything.
