Hello all,

I have an annoying little problem. On sites, eg Ebay, Amazon plus others I get some of the icons displaying the little boox with a cross in it instead of the actual jpeg that should be used. When I right click on any of them to get the URL of the image it always says http://127.0.0.1:1027/bug.cgi which ever site I am on. I know that this points to my local machine but I don't know where to startlooking.

I am using WinXP SP2 fully up to date, ZoneLabs Internet Security Suite 5, Spybot Search and Destroy, and Spyware Blaster.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Phil

Does this happen on other sites?

I don't know, but Does XP sp2 cache web images because this is what it sounds like to me... Unless the pages you are looking at are incorrectly written...

 Not 100% sure there...

I have seen something simular, but it was on a server... it was looking for its local hdd for the images... but that was down to the setting on Internet Explorer..

Is the source address of the JPEG actually some third-party server address?

Its possible that adware and pop-up server-domains has been re-directed to 127.0.0.1 using the HOSTS file. Try seeing what the contents of that (text) file are:

c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

And make a call on your browser's restricted sites/domains list.

BTW, I think you meant the topic title should be "images not showing" (because "icons not showing" sounds like not what you're asking).
