my sent mail was just downloaded to my inbox, is that normal? (I had not dled old mails, only the new ones) so recieving the sent mail is a little wierd when it doesn't get labeled as "sent" ??

or am I mistaken?

Thanks

@XMac

You can easily fix this with a simple rule (ah, the power of Outlook).

Just make a rule that moves the e-mail to a "G-Mail Sent Items" folder when you receive it if your e-mail address is in the sender's address (i.e. you sent it). You can also set it to mark the message as read. That way, if you ever have to send a message via the web interface, Outlook will download it and simply store it on your computer.

I simply have another .pst file that handles my GMail stuff and my Sent Items folder is in there.

There's been so many posts going past, but none of any specific info!

So here's details.

1. You can retrieve your Gmail messages with a client or device that supports POP, like Microsoft Outlook or Netscape Mail.

2. The Gmail POP-access is being rolled out slowly. Not all have access to it yet. If you are on the lucky side, you see a "New Features" link in brown, at top-right of your Gmail (after you login via web-interface). Then, clicking it tells you of how you can use POP.

3. Then see XtremeMaC's post:

pop.gmail.com

smtp.gmail.com

To enable POP in your Gmail account, please follow these steps:

Log in to your Gmail account.

Click 'Settings' at the top of any Gmail page.

Click 'Forwarding and POP' in the orange 'Mail Settings' box.

pop.gif

Select 'Enable POP for all mail' or 'Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on.'

Choose the action you would like your Gmail messages to take after they are accessed with POP.

Configure your POP client*, and click 'Save Changes.'

*To learn about configuring POP access, please visit the POP client configuration list.

Have you enabled POP in your Gmail account? We're rolling out POP access to all users in phases. Once it's available to you, a 'Forwarding and POP' tab appears on your 'Settings' page. You need to have this tab in your Gmail account before you can configure POP in your mail client.

4. Then this info:

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to access your Gmail messages.

* Did you click 'Save Changes' after enabling POP in Gmail? To ensure that Gmail can communicate with your mail client, be sure to click 'Save Changes' on the Gmail 'Mail Settings' page.

You can use the following information to configure POP. If you encounter difficulties, we suggest contacting your mail client's customer support department for further instructions.

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server – requires SSL:
pop.gmail.com
Use SSL:  Yes
Port:    995

Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server – requires TLS:
smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication:  Yes
Use STARTTLS:  Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port:    465 or 587

Account Name:  your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com')
Email Address:  your full Gmail email address (username@gmail.com)
Password:  your Gmail password

You won't see google ads of any sort, now that you don't see the web-interface! :D
