error when hitting "add/remove" programs with them

I downloaded a theme called UltraBlue ?? from ThemeXP (i am finding more problems with themes from this site and inconsistencies in the types they have and where they place their final files)

When I had to remove a program with this theme installed, I clicked on control panel, add/remove programs, then I got an error "value creation failed at line 521" I change themes and I don't have the problem. I am assuming it is a bad download and not my computer.

Am I right. I can't fix it myself can I?

ThemeXP has gone evil. I hope you NOT also using StyleXP??? :o

ThemeXP.org

They've been repacking their downloads with spyware and other junk.

If your lucky you can click on the download link a couple times usually you get a exe file thats an installer for stuff you dont want, but you might get a zip file which you can extract the theme or visual style you want without installing any spyware.

Some people also use vmware or other software to install the junk on a virtual pc and then just copy back the theme without the garbage.

This is a better site than ThemeXP, which you should only use if you have to.

In case you're using StyleXP, ditch it. All you need is a patched uxtheme.dll file and you can use any theme or visual style in Windows without the need for some clunky software. Just copy the theme files to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes. Done. I use nLite to create an XP cd with the uxtheme.dll already patched on every install.

peace.

thanks. Got that same 'lecture' about StyleXP and themexp.org in another question.

Except, not to correct you or the other guy, but when I applied the uxtheme.dll patch and am now putting in my own downloaded themes. They go in Windows/resources . they don't go in windows/resources/themes. At least not in my computer. I tried putting the entire theme folder in there , with the theme icon outside, along side luna, etc but it didn't work. I saw where my Windows !Plus themes were put outside of the Themes folder in, as I said, Windows/resources I put the theme there and it worked.
