registery question

Featured Replies

hi im trying to browse through my registry to export a few 3d screensaver serials,

now these were not programs that installed on my pc i only placed the .scr files into my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder and registered them that way, can anybody tell me where i can locate these special screen savers at in my registery ?

any help would be appreciated thanks

Search for the serial.

Are you sure the screensaver stores the serial in the registry ?

Often programs encrypts serials so what u see in the registry is just garble.

Just a few thoughts

thanks for the reply

actually im not sure if the serial is stored in the registry, i just assumed it was because if its not stored there, then where else could it really be, afterall all i really did to instal the screen savers was just place the .scr file in the system32 folder then from there right click on my desktop, properties then screensavers and choose it that way and register it,

hmmm this may be harder then i thought,

does any body have any more ideals

thanks

lost soul,

i hv an idea...

usually when u download trial version of screensavers and u apply

the Legit serial. the SCR file itself is "changed". u can then just copy

the scr in your windows system32 and copy to another pc and it wont ask

for the serial. (pls make sure u r doing this legally)

some screensavers have a "smart" check system...

it checks back at its homepage to see if u are using a pirated serial.

if it does, it will do very bad things to your screensaver file.

im gonna test your ideal and see if the .scr file has changed if it has, that would be kool, thanks for giving me your advice,

You can search your registry via: Edit --> Find menu by typing the name of your screen saver. Hit F3 on your keyboard till you find it.
