Windows XP "Run" command list

Hi everyone !

What i'm looking to do is a bit hard for me to explain.

When you click "start" and then "run" you get a dialog box where you can put command to execute. By example if I want to start Netmeeting I just have to write "conf" and press enter, If I write "mstsc" It's gonna start Remote desktop connection (I guess mstsc stand for Microsoft Terminal Server Client)

BUT

conf.exe is located in C:\Program Files\NetMeeting

mstsc.exe is in C:\WINDOWS\system32

notepad.exe is in C:\WINDOWS

So my question is : Is there any list or mapping or file table or command that I can edit to ADD a program shortcut to the run dialog. I.e D:\Appz\Army20\Army20program.exe will be only "Army20program" in the run dialog.

Thanks

-M

ONLY do this if you know what you're doing to the registry... and ALWAYS Backup the Registry before you do anything.. if you don't know how to edit the registry tell me and i'll make a reg file to do this for ya.

well... got bored so i decided to fiddle around with this.. and made things like when i type notpad in the run box MetaPad *freeware good notpad program* opens insted...

so heres your reg file. just double click it and hit yes on the Merge to Registry Box.

ok.. had to put it in a zip file. so you could download it..

I'm not really going to answer your question here (Bi0haZarD might already have - haven't checked the link)

I just want to let you know it's normal behavior. You typed the programs (.exe) filenames (extension not required), and they're on the path - so it will start. (open a command window and type PATH [enter] you'll see what it is) That's been there since the old dos days :)

I love to mess up my system trying new things, anyways If I need it back, I install everything thru my network and win2003 server using RIS. My Docs & setting folder is mapped to a partition so I'm never loosing something.

Bi0haZard: Are u a coder ?

7 days late.... lol... but i'm a newbie Visual Basic Coder/Programmer lol.

I was thinking of making a quick simple program that would just add what you wanted to the registry. i actually started making the prog until i formatted my hard drive and lost it lol.

its easy to do. i just can't read the current programs in there because the file names are the "key names" if they were numerical i could... the program would only be a writer not a reader :}
