Integrate HotFixes

Recommended Posts

Another great messup from Microsoft... :thumbdown

Thoses 3 HotFixes are supposed to support the /integrate: switch

KB834707

KB841533

KB885626

but I get this error message:

KB834707.gif

I've already tried to install some of them with SVCPACK.INF:

KB834707.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (DOESN'T INSTALL)

KB841533.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (OK! IT WORKS)

KB885626.exe /passive /norestart /quiet (NOT TESTED)

Any suggestions?

Could you give the full string that you used to try and integrate the hotfixes into your distribution?

ie "KB834707 /integrate:D:\i386" ?

well I had 4 other update to integrate and they worked great...

But here is the exact command line:

"P:\Unattended Install\q834707.exe" /integrate:"P:\Unattended Install\RC - Windows XP SP1 Fr"

also works with a \ at the end:

"P:\Unattended Install\q834707.exe" /integrate:"P:\Unattended Install\RC - Windows XP SP1 Fr\"

I run the command from the Run... prompt

I guess I can't really help you all that much...

Using the english version of XP SP2, I integrated Q834707 by either pointing it to the i386 folder or just one level above it and it did work. Did you download the correct language for the patch?

the /integrate switch really doesn't do much.

It copies the newer files over the old, deletes the old. Then adds itself and it's CAT file to SVCPACK.INF. It's the same process as http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/installhotfixes_old.htm

Also, bear in mind only the most RECENT hotfixes will work, excluding the IE patch I believe as it uses a different install program.

well I am usualy adding hotfixes to SVCPACK.INF and copying the hotfixe to my update folder but I decided to try the /integrate: option because KB834707.exe is not working with SVCPACK.INF

Oh! crap, I took a look at the other 4 hotfixes I succesfully integrated to my CD and I noticed the following:

1- Theses 4 hotfixes are in a new folder \I386\svcpack

2- My DOSNET.INF now list the 2 folders

[OptionalSrcDirs]
svcpack
Update

3- theses 4 hotfixes are now listed in my SVCPACK.INF but it changed some parts:

Well, i've made my decision.

I've decided that I won't /integrate: any hotfixes into my Unattended Win2000 and WinXP SP1 installation. I'll just call them with SVCPACK.INF or a Batch File.

I don't know yet how I will solve the KB834707 issue but I'll try to find a way...

I will however /integrate: the hotfixes into my WinXP SP2 CD.

Cheers!
