Orsi Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Hey there, I've just (finally) finished my Multi-boot DVD, burned it a DVD-RW and tested it with VmWare, it works perfectly but everytime I try to really boot from it CD Shell starts normally but then I choose to install Win XP Pro SP2 and it says it can't boot 'cos it can't read from device. What can be happening?tks
tjhart85 Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 Did you do a full format on the DVD-RW? I have had major problems when i forgot to do a full level format on the DVD blank, even when its brand new. Also, if you are using VMWare, why not just use the image created and test with that, instead of going through the trouble with a RW? It seems like a bit more work to burn it each time when you could just use the image.
Orsi Posted October 26, 2004 Author Posted October 26, 2004 the DVD-RW works pretty fine if I burn anothers things in it and even with Multi-Boot DVD burned in as long while I test it with VMWare, the problem only happens if I boot via CD Shell.I test the image with VMWare and it also works perfectly...the weird thing is that another Multi-Boot DVD I've built before worked without any problem, even if I really boot from it...I'll try to download CD Shell again and the replace it files
htc Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 It could be problem with your MB bios, or the bios of your mass storage controller...
LiquidSage Posted October 29, 2004 Posted October 29, 2004 you might want to try burning at 1x speed, DAO, make sure you close the session, and possibly use a normal dvd-r. RW's aren't always forgiving. I hope you didn't use a udf rw (nero incd for example)
