XSienar Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 I've been reading through the forums here and I'm quite amazed at how many of my questions have been answered without me even having to post a request. But there are still 2 problems I cannot solve by searching alone.Problem #1:I have a ATI Radeon 9200 All-In-Wonder that I want to be ready to go play Doom 3 as soon as I install WinXP. I've found a tutorial on how to do so, but it says that a file named "setup.iss" will be generated in the Windows directory... I searched the whole directory and sub-dirs, still nothing. Is there any program that can extract the files from the IS .cabs so that I can install them using a SFX archive or a different installer? Or just a way to do it with the files as is?Problem #2:I have this IDE controller, a High Point Rocket 133SB. It was a real pain to install normally using the F6 method and floppies. I've seen the articles on how to install SATA/RAID controllers, and although this is similar... it has 2 .sys files instead of just 1 like all the ones that the step-by-steps showed. So the basic question is, how do I install the second sys file? I know it is required for stablity, becuase when I killed it off to test it my PC kept crashing. Thanks in advance for any help.
Bâshrat the Sneaky Posted October 26, 2004 Posted October 26, 2004 problem #1:Did you run it with the '-R' switch? (You should use capital R!!!)So like this:X:\path\ATI_or_something\Setup.exe -Rproblem #2:I'll investigate it when I get home, I'll download it and see what I know about it...Bâshrat the Sneaky
XSienar Posted October 26, 2004 Author Posted October 26, 2004 Seems I read through the instructions too fast. The part about the -R switch was mentioned, I just overlooked it.Problem #1 solved! Thanks, BTS. : Now I just have to get in gear and code all this up... As much as I dread coding MS script files I know it will make my life easier, eventually at least.
XSienar Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 If you're having trouble finding the site here's a link to the DL page for the drivers. (I know it says "BIOS" in the filename, but the drivers are there too.)HighPoint Rocket 133SBhttp://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA/bios_r133sb.htmAn unusual note about the drivers. Even though the WinXP and Win2K files are the same version, the XP files will lock up my PC on boot, but the 2K files will allow it to run fine (think it might have crashed once on install compared to 6 times). And yes, I'm running XP.
