For those who haven't seen the info it seems that XP Release 2 will be after all.

More info here.

Notice the part: "The CEO of the Microsoft Monopoly, Steve Ballmer, said at the Symposium that Longhorn was a 'wave' of technologies, rather than a single product."

I just saw that the news was all over the place so if you think that this post was not needed it's ok...but that info about Longhorn being almost just a collection of new technologies really supprised me.

I think they just come up with the excuse of not be able to finish it on time.

A new version of Windws XP, that seems a bit desperate from Microsoft, just like seeing them selling a bundle of XP and Office2003 for 50USD in Asia. I don't think Longhorn will be such a benefit to the OS world, from all the reviews I've read, it seems "overweight", it appears to consume as much memory and processor resources as a recent 3D game, so instead of making an OS with better performance, we make one full of iCandy... nice job :P
