crashdundee Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Do you guys know any way how to integrate the created logon screen into the installation cd (made it with logonstudio, i just want to replace the original files...)Thanks in advance....
Alanoll Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 yes, rename to logonui.exe. modifype it. makecab it. replace original and your done. Atleast with what I got out of it, since you don't wanna keep the original (stupid idea, but oh well).
Nologic Posted October 23, 2004 Posted October 23, 2004 Well if you save it off as *.logonxp and then use the AutoIt script I wrote up you should be able to do this no problem, just follow the directions for the script and you should be good to go.
crashdundee Posted October 24, 2004 Author Posted October 24, 2004 thx, out of this a new question came up, i just switched my bootscreen using the program called "bootskin" from Stardock. Now after i restarted and had the bootscreen i wanted, i copied the ntoskrnl.exe file to another system to test it, but it seems like the programm bootskin didnt really modify my ntoskrnl.exe. Even when i open the ntoskrnl.exe file with resourcehacker it only shows me the standard stuff there is in the original file, doesnt bootskin modify the ntoskrnl.exe? So here the new question, is there any way to make a ntoskrnl.exe out of the bootscreen i got from the program bootskin? oh and there is the exact same problem with logonstudio and logonui.exe...
Alanoll Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 logonstudio saves it as logonuix.exe i believeas for teh proper kernel, open boot.ini and see if there is a kernel= entry and then copy that file
Nologic Posted October 25, 2004 Posted October 25, 2004 From what I'm aware of BootSkin actually doesn't edit any kernals....it simply creates and runs a service that masks the orginal kernals boot screen with that of the applications. That said I'd suggest using that BootSkin script I got written up and if you follow the directions fully, it will setup the bootscreen you want for your second boot. Now if you dont want to install the application, I think Alanoll has a topic pinned at the top of this forum that discusses how to manually edit the kernal.
