durex Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Made a similar post in another category the other day and didnt get any responses so I figured I prolly should tossed it hear... In other words... sry for the double post! How does one define an alternate installation path from the default when doing unattended installs of programs ?I find hard to believe nobody has inquired about this but I looked all over the place and couldnt even find this question asked, let alone answered... Thanks!
Nologic Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Generally you can't...there is one type of installer that allows you to do this via a switch but for the life of me I don't recall. Now if you use AutoIt to automate the install rather than going silent...most apps you can change the default install directory...but there are a few that you still can't...well you could but its a pain in the rear end.
ran Posted October 22, 2004 Posted October 22, 2004 Installshield apps let you define installation directories (usually) via the setup.iss file. Many other programs just have switches - and you have to dig for 'em (e.g. Winamp, Java, Daemon tools, etc...)
durex Posted October 22, 2004 Author Posted October 22, 2004 Ah... so no easy way then. Figures. Thanks for the relpies guys....
