oioldman Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 The utility that does this is called "places" and if you go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enit will give you info on what and it does it.I know it references Outlook 2000, but ignore that as it is PC wide.
mrmr Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 mmm, interesting...so...there's a way to integrate it in an unattended installation?maybe copying it in %windir%\system32 the place.dll, and registering the dll with "Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\Places.dll"?mrmr
Denney Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 Um... I use the following (converted from my INF file) and it works flawlessly:[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Comdlg32\PlacesBar]"Place1"=dword:00000000"Place2"=dword:00000011"Place3"=dword:00000005Note: There is no "Place0".
mrmr Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 sure...it works....but you can have till to 5 "Big Icons" and a default value. From "Place0" to "Place4"...http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enthere you can find lightning DOC!It says that you can use also till to 10 "small icons" too...so use it how you want! mrmr
Screemer Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 On this page you can see how to do it with reghack..I have made explanations how to do it for office 2k, officexp and office 2k3..Screemer's OfficeTweaksHope you'll like it..
mrmr Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 There's a way to add some registry tweaks to use "Small Icon" without Office?mrmr
oioldman Posted October 21, 2004 Posted October 21, 2004 @mrmr - Your link doesn't work.@RavRod - You have a key called comdlg32, this is the COM added by the places install. So, did you install it or just use those keys, and will it create the subkeys needed? sorry if these questions are dumb.an oldman called oi
mrmr Posted October 21, 2004 Author Posted October 21, 2004 it's only the same link a pair of post upper! mrmr
