leebobs Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 So with GTA:SA on its way out in under two weeks I decided to fire up GTA:VC on my current rig. It being vastly improved from the 1.8Ghz P4 with a Ti4200 which I last played this game on.But unfortunalty... I'm having nothing but trouble with it!Before you all ask, I have the latest Firmware, Drivers, Updates for all my hardware and software... I have tried the VC Patch 1.1 to no avail. Oh and its a fresh WinXP SP2 install.Issues1. Pressing Shift fails to sound any emergency service siren... It also fails to sound Mr Whippy's jingle... Thereby meaning you can't complete the mission. (Re-Defining keys fails to solve issue).2. Forcing AA & AF with the game results in missing textures, "flashing" textures and screws up boarders.3. Putting CD in DVD Drive results in 5-7 second Lag in switching cars... even though the radio files are ripped to the HDD. (Switching to CD-RW fixes)4. When complex sound effects need to be processed (crashing of multipul cars), lag as above happens.Anyone tried (or willing to try) Vice City and getting the same errors?Leebobs
XtremeMaC Posted October 19, 2004 Posted October 19, 2004 i recently did the sam thing (fire up vc and installed ultimate mod)i don't have any problems like u've encounteredI've geforce 4 440 mx 64mb. 1. try the default buttons, pressing shift afaik doesn't turn on the siren. i think its caps lock "target mission" or something similar... 2. forcing aa & Af , r u crazy? on ti4200 i don't think there is much aa and af!! don't be mistaken when it appears in nvidia driver panel. 3. cd/dvd issue is totally okay, its about the access time of your cd-rom, if u don't like it get a no-cd patch.4. lower the sound quality, overall this just states me that your computers lags in overall performance.decrease the resolution close the frame limiter. try different settingschange the nvidia options to performance instead of quality...
