crucial Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 I am having a problem with my newest XPCREATE using SP2. It seems that SP2 has the Microsoft Nvidia drivers installed by default. When I put a new driver on the disk it won't use the new drivers because It thinks the MS drivers are more up to date. Is there any way to remove drivers from the install cd? I tried removing the nv4_disp.in_ file from the I386 folder but it tells me It can't find it when copying files during the install. I can tell it to skip it and everything works fine but I would rather not have to do that. The good thing is that by doing that windows uses the new drivers I put on the disk instead of the microsoft ones.I hope my wording isn't too confusing. Any help woul be appreciated.
buletov Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 ...i also heard that xp with sp2 support some previously unsupported serial ata controllers...
GreenMachine Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Welcome to MSFN, crucial! The phenomenon you describe is due to the fact that both drivers are the same version number/date. The Windows version does not include the control panel applet and such. The only work around I can think of off the top of my head is to somehow fool Windows into thinking that your version is newer. Perhaps editing your INF file? Beware that this may break the code-signing, and you may need to instruct Windows to use unsigned drivers. As soon as a newer Nvidia driver is available, this issue will be resolved. My guess is that will happen before I figure out a better work around.Good luck, and let us know if you find a solution!
