tarquel Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Hi all (mainly @ GM)Just a note to say that the hotfixes:WindowsXP-KB885523-x86-enu.exe [1,199,848 bytes]WindowsXP-KB885626-v2-x86-enu.exe [469,736 bytes]placed in the SVC-HF1 folder are installed slipstreamed as expected and worked fine for me on Windows XP Professional.Looks like I just missed out testing a hotfix that appeared after I'd already checked Windows Update earlier...Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB834707) [2.9MB]Sorry I would have done this one too given the chance...Regards,Nathan H.
jobbie Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer for Windows XP Service Pack 2 (KB834707) [2.9MB]place this one into th folder svc-hf1jobbie
tarquel Posted October 14, 2004 Author Posted October 14, 2004 I already assumed that jobbie - i just meant that i hadnt had a chance to do it yet.But thanks anyway.Regards,N.
GreenMachine Posted October 15, 2004 Posted October 15, 2004 Thanks, it_ybd. Are those updates (KB885523 & KB885626) really needed for SP2 installations? I am under the impression that they are not.Yes, jobbie, that is correct: the IE update goes into SVC-HF1.
tarquel Posted November 4, 2004 Author Posted November 4, 2004 @GM:Just installed SP2 with yet another build from xpcreate (thank you *winks*) and in the WU, there is in total:- KB885626- Windows Messenger 4.7 Update <- ignore this - its my fault i think hehe- Media Connect thing-yand a (unrelated to xpcreate) hardware driver update (never use them hehe).Soooo.....regarding KB885626, think it definately needs to be in the list as it definately relates to SP2 & (some) Pentium/Celeron 4 CPU's...Visit:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=enor:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];885626and all will be revealed Place in HF1 as before and all being well...it should be fine - remember that if you dont include it in the build and dont have a Pentium/Celeron 4 based CPU, I doubt you'll see it appear Regards,Nath.PS And thanks again GM - much success was had *big wink*
GreenMachine Posted November 7, 2004 Posted November 7, 2004 I guess that makes sense ... I'm not sure if I have tested on a "live" P4/Celeron, but I thought so ... In amy event, I see no harm adding that to my list, do I think I will!I do know about the WMC. You can use the package that I posted about in one of the other forums, and add it to SVC-POS, or SVC-CF2 (as it will soon be called). Thanks, TwoFiver!
