sdube Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 Hello everyone!I am having a problem installing MSN Messenger from the GuiRunOncEx method. The odd thing is that the installation was working fine in my setup before when it was based on SP1. Now I am trying to install from an SP2 setup (along with the RyanVM pack). The error I am getting is the following:The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or if the Windows installer is not correctly installed. Here is the command I use to setup for GuiRunOnceEx:REG ADD %KEY%\010 /VE /D "MSN Messenger 6.1.0202" /fREG ADD %KEY%\010 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\MSN\MsnMsgs.msi /QB" /fOther installs work fine (.NET+SP1, Java 5, etc...)What could be the culprit?Thank you very much!
RyanVM Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I'm building a CD with MSN Messenger 6.2.0137 right now. We'll see how it goes.
RyanVM Posted October 11, 2004 Posted October 11, 2004 I just tested it here and it ran fine. I ran it from a batch file called by GuiRunOnce.ECHO Installing MSN Messenger 6.2.0137...start /wait %CDROM%\Updates\apps\MsnMsgs.msi /qb-!
sdube Posted October 11, 2004 Author Posted October 11, 2004 I rebuilt my CD and now it's working fine.God, I hate this when it does that. Now I don't know what triggers the error... Isn't computer fun? Thanks for doing a test anyway. Now, to integrate your new release... Great stuff!
