zoran Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 Slipstreamed XP with XPSP2, using nLite.Created winnt.sifCreated .iso using CD image for windows XP ProBurnt image to cd using Nero.Installed in VPC 5.2 perfectly, only trouble is, start menu is WIN2K version, there is a "My Computer "icon on the desktop (sic) WIN98 etc. and,in Control Panel>Display>Themes, there is no option to choose WINXP or WIN modified XP theme.I dont think this install knows quite which version it is suppose to be.Can anyone suggest what has happened, or what I may have done wrongThanks:
CoffeeFiend Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 XP with a Win2K start menu? that's impossible. Perhaps you mean classis style (the best and only one worth using imho )Most likely, you've added a registry tweak that causes that (or perhaps something you've done in nLite)as for the "WIN98 etc. and,in Control" then I have no idea what you're saying...
Alanoll Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 I'm betting he removed Theme support with nLite as if you chose Recommended i believe it gets removed. If you did, start over. As for the My Computer on desktop, that's a registry tweak.
prathapml Posted October 6, 2004 Posted October 6, 2004 @crahakHey, you CAN get the win2k style startmenu is what he's saying. (maybe in dis-similar words, but classic start menu is what he is referring to)@zoran1. To get back XP-style start-menu, don't choose any options relating to "Shell" in nlite's unattended screen.2. If the [shell] value for classic start menu was set from winnt.sif, you'll automatically get the mycomputer/mydocs links on your desktop.3. You aren't getting WINXP theme, because you would've removed "Theme" support, as alanoll said.Do not remove things that you don't know about. Stay with "Recommended" and everything will be okay.
