XP restore points

can anyone please clarify XP restore points for me!

Here is the scenario!

1. I create a custom restore point just before i load up some new software!

2. I load new software.

3.try to run program, but there is insufficient resources;

So,

I know that i can either restore the system back to point 1, or un-install the software.

What is the better option???

Further questions!

i.Does restoring to point 1, regain disk space used by the software? If not, can i just deleted the new program folders it created?

ii. If i un-install the software, will this be the cleaner option?

Thanks :}

Un-installing will be the cleaner option.

But if your windows is still not working properly even after the un-install, you can restore the restore-snapshot taken previously. That will not do anything with regard to the disk-space occupied, it will simply get your system-folders to the way it was before, that's all.

thanks!

Windows is running fine, so i will un-install.

I am testing a game for my friend, but i dont want to screw up my system.

Plus i cant justify more time on the PC to the wife!

System restore restores system state data but if you've installed a game it will left over game installation folder.

I would recommend uninstalling game and then runing system restore..

I preformed the un-install and it did leave the games folder. so i decided to run the system restore to the "pre-game installation" point and it seems to have removed the games folder from my F drive which it was installed on!

Is that what its supposed to do?

BTW it did cause a windows error, so can i restore to that point again?
