I've been playing around with the registry tweak suggestion given on that site suggested by spiritpyre.Seems, though (and I can say for sure) that this registry tweak will only stop the one Information Bar message ..."To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..." But there are about 6 or 7 different Information Bar messages that can be displayed at varying times.The one I want to disable (without activating ActiveX Controls) is this one...Your security settings do not allow Web sites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. spiritpyre Posted June 4, 2005 Share Posted June 4, 2005 I might be way off on this one, but i think i remember hearing somewhere (when i was searching for the one above) that that message can be disabled by changing one of the settings under Options->[Advanced Tab].From what I recall, the issue I had was that local content couldn't run activex but for some reason remote content could because "My Computer" is essentially being "zoned" while everything else was already in a zone and you could control it. This was creating a lot of problems mostly for developers and ppl like me who just wanted to play some friggin files. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This could be VERY malicious in the wrong hands!How anoying is this?!I opened a page like http://www.users.on.net/~alexanderino/cdex/ and get the information bar pop up.
