judging from the fact you DIDN'T post what you ahve.....

I'm guessing your don't have WINNT.SIF will all the required info in I386, without it being called WINNT.SIF.TXT

i renamed the file to winnt.sif. I have windows XP home edition. tht wht you meant?

He means make sure it's not named winnt.sif.txt (as in, unhide file extensions in explorer options).

how?

1) Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View >

Make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked.

2) Windows Exlplorer > View > Details

Now you should be able to tell whether your winnt.sif file really ends with .sif or .txt.

Your first clue will be if it has the same icon as regular text files. If the true extension is .sif, it'll have the icon for undefined extensions.
