a06lp Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 should regtweaks be the first thing installed?or does windows need time after logon to build the registry, and therefore it should be last?
SiMoNsAyS Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 Please, read... http://unattended.msfn.org/xp/registrytweaks.htm
MHz Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I use cmdlines.txt to apply tweaks. But if you have some tweaks which are 3rd party program related, those may need to be applied after the programs are installed, but only if they may be overwritten.Consideration is best depending on your setup configuration, etc.
a06lp Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 no 3rd party stuff. ALL windows-tweaking stuff(IE, start menu, disabling services, etc.)
joebells Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I like doing those(IE, start menu, disabling services, etc.) from cmdlines.txt so that they apply to all users created from that point on.
a06lp Posted September 23, 2004 Author Posted September 23, 2004 i just read the tutorial, seemed pretty straightforward...1) create cmdlines.txt, calling regtweaks.reg[COMMANDS]"REGEDIT /S RegTweaks.reg"2) put both cmdlines.txt, and regtweaks.reg in $OEM$right?I plan to test this on my next install...(just did one today, and dont want to go through all of it again until theres more to test)
sleepnmojo Posted September 23, 2004 Posted September 23, 2004 I usually apply mine twice. Once in cmdlines, and once at runonceex. The one before is meant for default user, and the one after is for keys that may have been overwritten on program installs, or first login.
