need to retrive MS Outllook files

Hello people,

I have a problem which I hope someone can shed some light on.

I recently had to re-install win xp because of a virus and knew that all my applications would be scrubbed of the registry but would still be resident on my machine in Drive C somewhere so when I re-booted the PC I assumed I could navigate my way to the OFFICE file and execute outlook from there.

No avail.

It tells me that I have to re-install office from the original location (something to do with the registry settings I assume?). Well I can't do that because I no longer have the 'Office' disk and don't really understand what I'm supposed to do anyway!!

So how can I retrive all the very important calender appointments and contacts that I cannot access now so that I can save them and import them over to a freshly installed 'Office' at a later date?

Very gratefull for ANY advice as I am tearing the very few strands of hair i have out of my balding head!!

Outlook previous to 2003 - do a search for a (or multiple) *.pst files... these are the files that Outlook stores mail and such inside...

Outlook 2003 - do a search for *.pst AND *.ost files... the *.ost is the new format, but it is backwards compatible, so you should search for both... Generally found in (C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook)

Address book - *.wab AND *.pab files... these are the files that your address entries are stored... Generally found in (C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book)
