vasil Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 hi there, can anyone explain me what this error means and how to fix itit's the first time I'm making install cd and althought I followed every and each step described I keep getting this error no matter what (sorry if posted before, i DID a search)
Alanoll Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 what kind of CD are you making? Did you alter the structure in anyway? What is your directories like? These are important questions. If nothing else, try downloading the CDIMAGE zil file fromt eh website and run it.
vasil Posted September 19, 2004 Author Posted September 19, 2004 it is an (already) slipstreamed sp2 cd + driverpack_massStorage. I follow the btsunattended and pure krome's guides, with both I get the same error I think I the problem is somewhere in boot image file, when I replaced it with another one, extracted from win98 cd it booted, but I can't start instalation in that way...I'll try nlite tomorrow to see if it gets the job done...or perhaps this -> "If you have issues such as file copy errors or a non-bootable disc, try burning at a lower speed (16x) and selecting Disc-at-Once if possible rather than Track-at-Once."
Jito463 Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 Error Code 5 is corrupt boot image. I got a similar error when I was playing around with hex-editing the 3-in-1 boot image from the MSDN CD's to add a 4th (I forgot to reduce it back down to exactly 2048 bytes...oops). Try re-extracting the boot image, or download one from someplace like http://www.nu2.nu/bootcd/#wxp.
