    vLite sucessors

well, I dont know if nuhi has answered here, but I read some interview where he says hes unlikely to start it due to his new full-time job. makes me wonder tho, how many of the people around here are ready to start paying for nlite/vlite/7lite? I dont know if hes ever considered making a living out of them, but Im pretty sure lots of people will be willing to pay. so yeah, maybe the community should organize something...
  2. I've removed system restore but it keeps making new restore points every now and then (mostly after installing/removing soft). The services is not present in services.msc, i dont have the system restore tab in system properties dialog, however the Previous Versions tabs are present for folder properties dialog. so the question is - is there anything else needed beside checking system restore for removal in vlite?

  6. but you'll probably have when you install another hotfix/patch read the article
  7. ok guys, I know this has been discussed before, but I didn't find a definite answer... so, it's safe to remove all $NtUninstall*$ folders, and NOT safe to remove the $hf_mig$ folder? i'm 99% sure about the first one, and little less about the second. if anyone wants to get blamed when I screw things up - reply
  8. ok, i just closed and reopened windows explorer and everything's fine??!?! I didn't even kill the process. Gee...
  9. I've got this problem since today, I'm unable to drag files in windows explorer, and the paste menu/key combination is inactive. I've had this problem a long time ago with an NT station, I beleive it was something about the RPC service but I can't remember how I fix it I havent installed anything in the past few days... hijack this, ad-aware, nod32, rav antivirus online scanner - all of the didn't find anything unusual. the most annoying part - I CAN drag/paste with Internet explorer!?!?! any ideas will be appretiated
  10. thank you guys, I'll try what you suggest
  11. oh, pardon me, I forgot Windows XP SP2, all additional updates Abit KV8PRO, A64 3000, 2x512MB A-Data Vitesta, 160 GB Hitachi Deskstar 7k250, Sapphire X800Pro The processor is overclocked, but as I've previously said the system is stable with Prime 95 and other benchmarking/torture programs and the only problems I have occur during shutdown. I will however test it at default values, the problem is I don't know how to reproduce this BSOD... Any idea how to identify the faulty driver?
  12. I have the following problem: SOMETIMES during shutdown windows crashes with STOP 0x50 error -> PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. The file cited in error info is win32k.sys. From what I've read this error usually means memory fault, but my system is Prime95 stable, stable with 3dMark 01, 03, 05, Aquamark, Sandra tests and so on. The crash only occurs during shutdown, and I haven't found a way to reproduce it, it seems to happen randomly. I've never experienced crash during browsing, playing games or any other activity, only when shutting down. I *think* the memory address referenced in the error message is always the same, does that mean anything? It doesnt produce memory dump too, so I can't investigate it further... If anyone has some ideas what to do I would be very thankfull. What can cause this behaviour? What annoys me most is the fact it only occurs during shutdown, and seems to be unreproducible... I havent had any data loses or other problems so far, so I guess I can live with these random BSODs, but...
  13. well I blewed my installation last night, so nevermind this thread I'll be back when I get a floppy and reinstall
  14. okay, I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what it is I've included drivers from massstorage pack, I can clearly see windows loading them all during the setup and still don't get my hdd detected also, when installing on virtual pc/hdd I don't have any problems... help? hdd - hitachi deskstar 7k250 160gb SATA mb - kv8pro, via sata raid controler
  15. it is an (already) slipstreamed sp2 cd + driverpack_massStorage. I follow the btsunattended and pure krome's guides, with both I get the same error I think I the problem is somewhere in boot image file, when I replaced it with another one, extracted from win98 cd it booted, but I can't start instalation in that way... I'll try nlite tomorrow to see if it gets the job done... or perhaps this -> "If you have issues such as file copy errors or a non-bootable disc, try burning at a lower speed (16x) and selecting Disc-at-Once if possible rather than Track-at-Once."
  16. hi there, can anyone explain me what this error means and how to fix it it's the first time I'm making install cd and althought I followed every and each step described I keep getting this error no matter what (sorry if posted before, i DID a search)
