page not found and jpgs

I'm running XP with the the SP2 update and Internet explorer 6. In the last week I've noticed it takes longer to load pages (I've got DSL) and I get a lot of "Page not found" or "Page cannot be displayed" messages. Also, when trying to save pictures from the net I can no longer save as JPG, the only choice is BMP. I've tried cleaning my temporary file but I still can't save as JPG. Anyone have any ideas about these two things?

The bug where IE saves only as BMP is very, very widespread, we already had this whole discussion a couple weeks ago in the forums here. The best fix would be to use firefox
