I checked ref, but for some reason my Time Zone won't default to EST. Can someone tell me how dumb I am, and what I keep missing when I check my winnt.sif???

That's odd. I use:

TimeZone="20"

in mine to set to Central and it works, so I don't understand why it's not working for you.

I just ran my winnt.sif through the Setup Manager and changed the timezone to Eastern. This is what it output:

The OEM stuff is stuff I had put in there previously. If it's not working, then I honestly don't know what to tell you.

Maybe you are using the old version of VMWare...

(There are unknown bugs if you are using old version.)

I tested it on the lastest version of VMWare and it work.

What version are you using VMWare?

I saw your winnt.sif, remove the 0 and quoting

for example....

TimeZone=4

This is for Pacific Time, you should replace 4 to 35

I have had the same problem. No matter what I've tried, TimeZone never gets set as Eastern Time (US&Canada).

Are you trying to do a fully unattended install or only a "provide defaults" type of install? I'm trying to do a provide defaults install and have never managed to get it to default to eastern time. I have a theory, but I haven't tested it yet by changing it to a fully unattended install. I think it might just ignore the timezone line when you have it set to provide defaults and that is why it always comes up as PST. If you are doing a fully unattended install and its not setting it to EST then that means my theory is wrong. If anybody is having this trouble with a fully unattended install rather than just a provide defaults install please feel free to chime in here and let me know which will save me the trouble of having to test it.

If you do a ProvideDefaults, it will NOT work. If you do a FullUnattended it WILL. I think it has something to do with which lines are used for which type of install (?)

that must be it... I'm using "ProvideDefaults." This also seems to hold true to AreaCode (for phone) as it doesn't come up as what is specified in my WINNT.SIF either. Bummer. But at least I now know its not something I'm doing.

Yes, with ProvideDefaults, Timezone window appear with wrong timezone set. But if user simply press Next button at this point (without timezone change) after installing timezone will be SET! No any ideas about bypass this disturbing window...

Same problem here. No matter what I try I have not been able to get this to work either. It always come up set to -8
