gengo
I searched 'Installrite' [no quotes] and the results were too general. I searched 'Installrite Office' [no quotes] and there were no results. What are the limitations of using this program? I have successfully made an 'install package' of Acrobat Reader, WinRAR, Diskmanager, Nero, and a few other programs. However, I recently made one for Medieval - Total War - Viking Invasion and it says that it cannot read the file. The file is over 1gb, so could that be the problem?I also wonder about making a pack of Adobe Creative Suite and / or Office 2003, but would such a method work with these programs? What about XP Antispy? Norton 2004?Can I take a snapshot, then copy files from a CD/DVD drive to a folder on my HD [such as a plugin folder to the appropriate Azureus directory] and then make a package of just that? Thanks in advance for any and all help. I just would like to know the limitations of this piece of software.
mazin
For me, it failed with NAV Pro 2004. Everything was ok except activation, despite I installed it on the same machine! It, also, failed with Winamp 5.0!
gengo
Thanks for the response. If you do not mind me answering, what other programs did you try that were successful? If you could, list every successful package you made with InstallRite. Do you recommend just using application switches instead of this program? Just curious. Thanks again. mazin
Do you recommend just using application switches instead of this program?Silent switches, like /qb, /S, etc.., are good ONLY in case you are satisfied with default installation features of a product. If you are not satisfied with features installed by default when using a silent switch, then you'd better use a script like JS, VBS, AI, ect...As you can see, I suggest repackaging (with InstallRite or whatever) to be the last approach in case you don't like silent switches or scripts. However, the main reason I started using InstallRite for is to repackage filters for Adobe Photoshop. I use many of them and it's tiring and boring to install them. One last word concerning InstallRite is to install the KITS on a similar system you create them on.If you could, list every successful package you made with InstallRite.Sure!ACDSee 4.0.1 Power Pack SuiteAd-Aware 6 Pro Build 181Adobe Photoshop 6.0 MEAdobe Reader 6.0Adrenaline CamouFlage 1.01Adrenaline NightVision 1.02Adrenaline SnowFlakes 1.01Adrenaline SnowScape 1.03Alien Skin Image Doctor 1.0Alien Skin Xenofex 2.0AT Font Genet 2.0AV Bros.
