Bingo
I need your help! I had to reinstall WindowsXP, and decided to go the slipstream/unattended way. I really wanted to have the cleanest installation without having anything to do, and stripped my CD to only 260MB while having SP1 slipstreamed (I did this before SP2).But doing so, I created a problem I didn't notice before a few days ago: I can't install any Windows Components; clicking on the "Add/install Windows components" tells me that another copy of the installation program is running and that I have to wait that this other installation finishes. The thing is, it's not true! And I need to install the Unix Printing Services to connect to my Linux system where my printer is... Bingo
Oh! And for that registry tweak:;Forces the New look of the control panel[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]"ForceClassicControlPanel"=dword:00000000I had to use it because any Administrator account didn't have the choice: It uses the classic control panel, and the possibility to switch to the New look simply isn't there (you know, that small link on the top-left side of the control panel's window). This is only a registry problem, since normal acount users had access to both looks. If you know which registry tweak could be the problem in the list I use, tell me, because I really can't figure out which one it could be!Thanks! This is the problem that I saw coming when people strip there CD of the extra stuff... So you did it to yourself...MaC!

Bingo
Ah.. I think I was misunderstood... I just wanted to know if someone would have known which option I took out that I should have left in. Or wicht regtweak I activated that I should'nt. That way I could try to find out a way to fix my problem without reinstalling Windows...And btw, I didn't slip SP2 over SP1. I sliped SP1 and that's it... maxXPsoft
k but you said(I did this before SP2). so misunderstandingI would go ask this question in nLIte forum and post link here, he can only improve or correct thing's he know's. As far as the [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services set them back to a 2 or a 3 and see if that help's.I don't know exactly what nLite remove's for each one and whether something happened during removal so no telling what happened. I don't see the obvious thing's that would cause this like Service's: Window's Installer
Bingo
thanks, didn't know about the Services in the registry. I'll try that, and see in the nLite forums.and I re-read my original post and realized that what I wrote was effectivly confusing... sorry!
