PROPLUS.MSI Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi, my computer didn't come with a Microsoft Office CD and I managed to remove all my shortcuts from the startmenu. I would like them back however when I try to 'detect and repair' it tells me that I require a proplus.msi. I have looked in all my cds and cannot find that specific file. I have downloaded a proplus.msi yet it seems to be the wrong version. I have a Windows XP Professional with frontpage, Service pack 2 and would like the proplus.msi file to repair it.

Thanks to anyone who can solve my problem,

Nick :)

:} you have a computer with microsoft xp with microsoft office professional. but u don't have the cd's did u purchase it legally?

you don't need the msi file to create shortcuts.

all u need is the shortcuts right here it is

double click on the file and it will create the shortcuts on the desktop.

drag it to your start menu that is it.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office

shortcuts.exe

Yes, I did purchase my computer leagally, however the Microsoft Office with Frontpage came pre-installed on the computer. Therefore, no cds were given with it. Slightly weird but I assure you that there is nothing wrong with my PC. The shortcuts you gave me are those to Microsoft Office 2003. I would much prefer the proplus.msi file for Microsoft Office Professional XP with Frontpage, service pack 2.

Thanks for your idea however I would much prefer to solve this problem using the official detect and repair solution. To do this I require the proplus.msi file.

check your manufacturer cd and look for proplus.msi.

IBM for example (my manufacturer) compress the contents of the cd and when you boot from that cd it will simply reinstall everything... perhaps it's a drastic solution

well u didn't say which microsoft office you had.

sorry i don't have that file since i threw out my old office xp.

that is a pretty old software.

if office came pre installed on your computer, you should have a cd.

To do this I require the proplus.msi file.

To perform a repair, you'll need Office CD. proplus.msi isn't sufficient unless Office was cached on your PC.
