How to get WPF (Windows File Protection) to recognize the SP2 CD?

Ok heres whats going on:

1. I created a bootable slipstreamed XP SP2 CD.

2. Rebooted and formatted C:\.

3. Installed XP SP2 and everything going fine until I accidently del

a needed windows file then Im prompted with this:

---------------------------- box 1--------------------------------

Files that are required for windows to run properly....etc

Insert your Windows Professional Service Pack 2 CD now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

so I insert the CD I slipstreamed myself and click Retry button and lo and behold

the dreaded msg:

--------------------------- box 2 -------------------------------

The CD you provided is the wrong CD.

Please Insert the Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD into your CD-ROM drive.

------------------------------------------------------------------

I click ok and insert the CD in my other CD-RW drive (H:)...same msg :(

so I make sure this registry entry is pointing to the correct drive letter:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\

ServicePackCachePath = I:

ServicePackSourcePath = I:

SourcePath = I:

where I: = my regular CD-ROM player.

looked in Windows dir an see newly created setupapi.log

--------------------------------------------------------------------

[setupAPI Log]

OS Version = 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2

Platform ID = 2 (NT)

Service Pack = 2.0

Suite = 0x0000

Product Type = 1

Architecture = x86

#-199 Executing "\??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe" with command line: winlogon.exe

#-167 SPFILENOTIFY_NEEDMEDIA: Tag = "\win51ip.sp2", Description= "Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 CD", SourcePath = "I:\i386", SourceFile = "muisetup.exe", Flags = 0x00000000.

#E169 SPFILENOTIFY_NEEDMEDIA: returned FILEOP_ABORT. Error 1223: The operation was canceled by the user.

#W187 Install failed, attempting to restore original files.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

these files:

WIN51

WIN51IP

WIN51IP.SP2

are on the root of the CD.

peeking at the WIN51IP.SP2 file with a hex editor I see: 0D0A

and it matches the Idents found in the xpbootfiles.zip

I'm out of ideas here, tryed reburning and putting different labels to no avail.

Thanks for your help :)

I know what the winnt.sif is for, I used it before on a floppy for unnattended

but neither of them files are on the SP2 Slipsteamed CD, why would I need these when didnt with SP1 Slipstreamed?
